Jeannie Gionfriddo’s
“What’s Cooking”
Anyone in the
mood for Italian?
The only thing better than sitting down to
an Italian dinner is enjoying it in a lovely quaint, little
out of the way restaurant, and Villa Napoletana is all of
that! (Actually, it’s a little piece of Italy).
A couple of weeks ago, after playing a “gig” there,
Mark came home singing its praises, and last week took us
there for dinner.
We went south on Route 83 to the X in Springfield, and continued
on 83 to the Springfield-East Longmeadow line. Right there
on the corner of North Main and Wood, situated in a little
strip mall on the right, sits this “little jewel.”
When you step in, you’ll find its all Italian, including
the atmosphere, the food, the chefs and the waitstaff. Even
the background music is in good taste (Sinatra albums).
Our choices of Vitello Saltibocca (Veal sautéed with
butter, lemon, in a white wine sauce, topped with prosciutto
and mozzarella), Mari Monti (Grilled juicy rib-eye steak with
two baked stuffed shrimp) and Beef Marsala were fork tender
and each was priced very reasonably and included soup or salad,
and pasta or fries. Mama Mia, what can I say?
Try this place, you’re bound to leave singing “That’s
Amoré!”
