Villa
Napoletana offers a taste of Naples
By Deb Gardener - Reminder Staff
East Longmeadow – When Villa Napoletana
opened its doors in late June, it brought the unique textures
and flavors of Southern Italian cooking to a very receptive
audience.
To thank patrons for their early success the restaurant, which
is located at the site of the former Havana Restaurant in
the Dairy Mart plaza on North Main Street (near the Springfield
city line), is holding a Grand Opening during the month of
august. Throughout the month, Villa Napoletana will be offering
a select collection of entrees at special prices.
The cozy café specializes in the lighter cuisine characteristic
of the “Provincia di Napoli,” which features an
abundance of vegetables and sauces that are wine or fresh
tomato-based.
The restaurants chef, a native of Caserta, Italy, uses authentic
regional cooking techniques, seasoned with his own culinary
flair, to create a wealth of entrees. House specialties, such
as filet mignon stuffed with prosciutto and fresh mozzarella
and accented with a Marsala wine sauce, and Ossobuco di Giuseppe,
tender veal shank marinated in burgundy wine and simmered
with onions, carrots and celery in a red wine sauce, are but
two of the tasty creations in his repertoire.
Dinner entrées range from spaghetti with meatballs
or sausage, to dinner for two specials, such as Zuppa di Pesce.
Entrees include choice of soup or salad, and pasta or french
fries.
And Villa Napoletana serves up this bounty of flavors in a
relaxed, yet sophisticated setting that adds a touch of romance
to lunch or dinner. The restaurant also hosts live jazz music
Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 9pm.
